IT'S ALL ABOUT YOU WORKING WITH US

To be successful in our organisation you will need:

  • Enthusiasm, initiative and a positive 'can do' attitude​

  • Commitment to promoting the rights of all people to dignity, respect and inclusion

  • Patience and flexibility

  • Clear communication skills

  • A Certificate III or IV in Aged Care or Disability or relevant experience in the field or a willingness to undertake relevant study

  • National Police Check

  • Current NDIS Worker Check

  • Current First Aid Certificate

  • Current Drivers License

Most positions at Cooma Challenge Limited are casual and support hours and duties vary from week to week, depending on the needs of our service users.

 

Hours cannot be guaranteed. Casual staff members are paid on an hourly basis under the Social, Community, Home and Disability Services Industry Award. 

SUPPORT

WORKERS

As a Support Worker you will be assisting  people with their everyday tasks in their homes and in the community, enabling them to maintain their independence and wellbeing and to lead full and engaging lives.

 

The skills required and the duties vary with individuals' ages and levels of disability and the service they are utilising.

 

Support Workers need to be physically able to undertake light housekeeping tasks and must have an absolute commitment to the rights of people's respect, privacy, and confidentiality.

 

Our Support Workers provide support in these areas:

  • Social Support - helping individuals maintain a social life through home visits, assistance with shopping and other activities and community outings

  • Personal Care - assisting with everyday tasks such as getting dressed, bathing, eating and moving about, depending on the needs of the individual

  • Domestic Assistance - supporting practical tasks such as general housework, laundry, cooking and shopping

  • Respite Care - providing a break for carers by taking over the caring role for a short period - at the individual's home, in the community or at our centre which may  include overnight care

TEAM LEADER & SERVICES COORDINATOR

As a Team Leader or Services Coordinator, you will be managing day to day administrative tasks involved with each service hosted by Cooma Challenge Limited including rostering, responding to enquiries, conducting initial assessments, reporting to management, providing leadership and supporting the teams.

 

For these positions you also need:

  • Suitable communication skills with people who have communication impairment

  • Time management and leadership skills

  • Intermediate computer skills

 

ADMINISTRATION

WORKER

As an Administration Worker, you will be supporting the day to day operations of Cooma Challenge Limited across all services.

 

Duties include reception, payroll, assisting with reports, records management, organising meetings, book-keeping and other tasks as required.

 

For these positions you also need:

  • A Certificate III in an appropriate course

  • Excellent communication skills, including people who have communication impairment

  • Good time-management skills, including prioritising work and achieving deadlines

  • Intermediate computer skills

  • Basic financial literacy
